Welcome to Math with Miss G! Math is the true international language. It’s the same in every country, no matter the spoken language. This has allowed me to travel, teach and learn from other teachers around the world. I have taught in India, China, Kenya, Italy, and Costa Rica, and I am excited to now bring what I’ve learned to Highland High.
“Don’t practice until you get it right, practice until you can’t get it wrong”
Expectations: The 5 P’s
Grading:
• In-class: Daily activities, in groups and/or individually, are checked randomly for on-task behavior and completion. Daily points will be given for the 5 P’s outlined above and tracked on the LiveSchool app. LiveSchool points can be redeemed for late homework passes or drop quiz passes. Extra points can be earned for helping others, presenting in class, and winning class competitions.
Visit app.liveschoolinc.com to join our class online for up to date in class participation.
Download App, for fastest tracking. Provide your info below if interested.
• Assignments: Assigned daily; worth 5 points each. They will be checked at the beginning of class, after which it is late. Late work is worth 60% or 3 out of 5 points.
If you are absent (including excused or school excused), it is your responsibility to obtain the missed class notes and assignments from classmates or my website. You will need to submit your work to Ms. Gubler EARLY, delivered by a friend/family, or emailed on time, otherwise, it is considered late. The assignment given while you are absent will still be due when you return to class. This also applies to school excused absences! Late Assignment Passes can be earned with LiveSchool points, and cannot be shared. Prolonged absences for family vacations(requires a trip slip from the main office) or illnesses will need to communicate with Ms. Gubler to make a plan for submitting the work. Deadline for late work is the test day for that module.
• Quizzes: Daily quizzes(3-5 questions) are given to show mastery of the concepts from each assignment. Study your homework and be on time to be ready for the quiz. On time quizzes offer 1-2 points of extra credit, which should be saved for absences, tardies, and emergencies. If you are absent for a quiz, it is EXEMPT(taken off) your grade, giving a greater percent of your grade to the quizzes/tests you did take. “Quiz Passes” can be earned with LiveSchool points to take a late quiz or retake a quiz for a better score. All make-up quizzes must be completed before the test.
• Tests: Worth ~60% of grade; given at the end of each module. It is your responsibility to be caught up on content by the time the exam is given, regardless of absences. Absences for tests must be preapproved and taken EARLY. Other wise, the late penalty sets the maximum for the test at 80%. No retakes. Late tests can be approved by the administration for extreme cases with a doctor note. If absent for a sport, other school activity, or going on vacation you’ll need to take the test early. If you are absent on the day of a review you are still required to take the test on the day it is given.
Cheating: Do your own work. Copied homework will not be tolerated. Cheating of any kind will result in a zero on the assignment, quiz, or test, and may warrant parent/administrator action.
Absences:
It is the student’s responsibility to see Ms. Gubler, her website, powerschool, or other students to see what work was missed and make arrangements with Ms. Gubler to get that work turned in. Please refer to the school’s attendance policy for seat time information and make-up credit.
Summary: Homework is due on time, email it. Otherwise it is late. Late homework, 60%. Deadline is test.
No quiz make-up necessary, marked exempt.
Tests will get 80% max if they are taken late, So take it early if you want full credit.
